Maroon 5’s frontman Adam Levine is suing the car dealer who sold him a 1971 Maserati, alleging the vintage vehicle is not the real deal.
Levine filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California over the $950,000 deal, which saw the singer trade in two of his classic Ferraris for the Maserati in 2020.
On his website, Cole says he is an ‘internationally recognized sales agent, auctioneer, and appraiser of investment grade automobiles.’
The lawsuit alleges classic car dealer Rick Cole or those who work with him faked documents pertaining to the vehicle and engine authentication marks.
The Adam Levine Living Trust said in the suit the ‘Payphone’ singer believed the Maserati Ghibli 4.9 Liter Spyders to be one of just 25 or so ever manufactured.
Levine is now suing to undo the deal with Cole or receive compensation to make the situation right.
In 2020, the singer’s trust agreed to trade a 1972 Ferrari 365 GTC/4 and a 1968 Ferrari 365 GTC for the 1971 Maserati plus $100,000.
The suit states Cole suggested this deal.
